Our
cottages offer a wonderful family holiday on a small peaceful site set in rolling Cornish countryside, with
beautiful private enclosed gardens and an indoor heated
pool, yet close to Bude's sandy beaches
(There's a very friendly country pub in the village just a
10 minute stroll away, that serves great food, and welcomes
families. There are also the
three supermarkets and many restaurants in Bude, only
1½ miles away
for those who don't want compete isolation while on holiday!)
The Setting
Blackberry and Bramblewood are
situated at the privately owned Trevalgas Farm Cottages, a small
complex in the village of Poughill, Bude.
The complex is set in rolling
Cornish countryside
The view from Bramblewood's
front terrace
There are 14 cottages at the site, but
some are used as private holiday homes, and not let out to holiday
makers, so it's a very
quiet peaceful site. Both cottages have very well maintained colourful
gardens, and the communal flowerbeds are full of summer bedding.
The Indoor Heated Pool
The indoor heated swimming pool is
12.3m long (40' in old money!) and being only 1.27m (4') deep
throughout is ideal for children, as well as adults wanting to swim
laps.
There are separate changing rooms for men and ladies, with
mirrors and movement sensitive heaters for cooler times of the year.
The pool is not attended, so parents need to supervise children under
15 years of age, and the entrance door is key operated to prevent
young children slipping in by mistake.
The heated pool is open daily
Children will gain water confidence and
even start learning to swim when you have the pool to yourselves
most of the day.
Please see the
the table below confirming which weeks the pool is open (It is most of the
year). The indoor swimming pool is open each day of the week, and
is for the exclusive use of visitors to Trevalgas cottages, so
you'll often find you have the whole pool to yourselves. It's
ideal for teaching youngsters water confidence and improving swimming
skills.
Planned Opening hours:
The pool opens early, so you can take a swim before breakfast!

The Playing Field and Adventure Playground
The Wendy House and tyre
swings
Above is the small Wendy House which younger children love,
while a balancing route around the other equipment keeps older
children busy!
A younger children's 'farm' themed play area has some springy animals to ride, and a
large crawl through tractor.
Behind Bramblewood and Blackberry is a large field suitable for ball
games. There are gates in each garden to enable children to get into
the field and across to the far corner where there is a children's
adventure playground.
The crawl-though tractor is great fun,
and there is a new slide (installed 2013)
The Games Room
The Games room with sofa for those
who have been knocked out of the tournament
There is a games room is open all day and evening, which has a table tennis table, (table
tennis bats & balls are provided in each cottage) and a pool
table (two 20p
pieces needed to use this)
This room is located in the Leisure building along with the swimming
pool, but with a separate entrance so that children can use it
unaccompanied.
There is also a small sofa in this room for those not playing to sit
and watch, or read a book: there are plenty in Bramblewood and
Blackberry to choose from.
Free Wireless Internet Access
On holiday, you'll still want to use the
internet to check the internet for places to visit, tide times, emails &
social networking sites, so we have a free to use wifi network in both
cottages and around the site to let you keep in touch.
The Laundry Room
In the Leisure Building there is a Laundry room with three automatic washing machines and
two tumble driers. There is an honesty box in operation for the
machines. There's also a large sink which can be useful for rinsing the
sand out of wetsuits after a day's body boarding on the great surfing beaches at
Bude.
Both Blackberry and Bramblewood have irons,
ironing boards, clothes airers and rotary washing lines in their gardens.
